Why healthy eating habits are essential when traveling is a question in every traveler’s life. Many people believe that healthy eating habits are not for them because they don’t have time to cook, not all vegetables or foods they like, and most of all – they don’t want to give up their favorite dishes for tasteless healthy food.

In addition, people who do not know the ins and outs of nutrition, when implementing restrictive diets, significantly limit even products with a high content of nutrients, claiming that in this way, they begin to eat healthily. Proper eating habits are the key to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. Unfortunately, many people have developed poor eating habits and now find it much harder to get on the green side of the power.

The best foods to eat on vacation

The best food to eat on vacation is part of a healthy diet. My whole diet consists of vegan foods. To create milk, I use coconut shavings, soybeans, or grains. You can use it to make a variety of desserts. Sandwiches made with vegetable paste, avocado spread, or sesame paste (also known as hummus) can you serve for breakfast.

I love guacamole! Guacamole is a paste made from avocados, garlic, lime juice, and red onion. I used to season it with fresh cilantro, salt, and pepper. You can add a little slice of chili pepper.

We can make a vegan fruit salad with cinnamon bananas, apples, oranges, and kiwis. It’ll taste just as good with plums, nectarine, kiwi, banana, sweet pomegranate, and pistachios. For the main course or a side dish for supper, vegetable salad is a great choice. Create a vegan variation of traditional vegetable salad with carrots, potatoes, celery, pickled cucumbers, onions, canned peas, and apples.

It tastes excellent with mustard, soy mayonnaise, pepper, and black salt. The taste of black salt is similar to that of eggs, making the salad even tastier and more fascinating. Vegans can also choose a spring salad with red peppers, black olives, tomatoes, and roasted sunflower seeds, dressed with olive oil and lemon juice.

Buckwheat groats with vegetables make the best foods to eat on vacation. To the cooked groats, add carrots, onions, and parsley, and season with herbs such as oregano and thyme, as well as salt and pepper. Breaded oyster mushrooms are another option for a dinner dish.

They should be floured and fried in hot oil in a pan, then drained of excess fat on a paper towel. Sautéed, roasted cauliflower with smoked paprika, freshly pressed garlic, salt, chopped parsley, lemon juice, almond flakes, and thyme. We can also prepare vegetable skewers of zucchini, eggplant, peppers, and cherry tomatoes with mushrooms, lemon juice, pepper, and salt for a vegan dinner.

Falafel is another vegan dinner option. The restaurants serve it with chickpeas, onions, and garlic. Sharpen the flavors of your food with cumin, coriander, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Falafel is an excellent accompaniment to tortillas, salad, or rice and veggies. Carrots, zucchini, beets, and parsley are the best veggies for making vegetable noodles. It is cooked in salted boiling water for about 2 minutes and served with spaghetti sauce or oil alone, such as flaxseed oil.

A berry cheesecake with almonds, oatmeal, millet groats, cashew nuts, coconut shavings, and dried dates, as well as agave syrup and lemon juice, is a delicious vegan pastry. Another vegan dessert is tofurkey atop a base of peanuts, coconut chips, dried dates, and chocolate. I always use the following to prepare the cake mix: natural tofu, maple syrup, potato starch, coconut milk, and lemon juice. You may also add raspberries and a coating of melted vegan chocolate, cinnamon, agave syrup, and plant-based milk on top of the tofurkey.

Berry pancakes, made with plant milk, cooked buckwheat, potato starch, vanilla essence, a banana, and salt, are another simple and delicious recipe. Making vegan ice cream, which requires the fat portion, is also simple to prepare.

How to eat healthily and cheaply while traveling?

How to eat healthily and cheaply while traveling – this question comes up very often on travel forums. Just because you’re a seasoned backpacker doesn’t mean you should ignore your health and your figure! Yes, I know that eating right is hard enough at home, but when you travel, you need to be even sexier to have the best chance of getting a good deal when you meet that Italian guy or gal for breakfast in Florence. So here’s our guide on how to eat healthy while traveling, all on a backpacker’s budget.

Indeed, eating healthy is often synonymous with expensive. However, there are many tricks to eat balanced food even when traveling, with hearty, healthy, and inexpensive products: local markets, bulk grocery stores, healthy homemade snacks. Good eating habits can only change our lives for the better! Here are the tricks:

The best way to stay healthy, eat well (and reduce your carbon footprint!) is to buy local food and cook it yourself. Go out and discover local producers and visit the beautiful markets of the cities and villages. That’s also part of tourism. Browse the stalls and find what you like and what inspires you. Also prefer foods served in bulk, which are usually cheaper.

Take fresh vegetables of the moment, local fruits, nuts. And let your imagination run wild. It is also an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the country’s culture and know what you have on your plate—less processed products, less plastic, better for your health, and more respectful of the planet.

It is also a great way to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet

Even if more and more restaurants offer adapted meals. Indeed, also try to limit your consumption of meat and fish (which can easily be replaced by another protein intake): your budget, your body, and the planet will thank you.

As for the accommodation type, opt for a youth hostel, an Airbnb, or a campsite. In addition to offering cheap accommodation, you will have at your disposal a kitchen (shared or not) where you can take care of your cooking. What a way to eat healthy and cheap, even while traveling!

Eating out every day is indeed a trap when you travel.

Traveling takes time and energy. Indeed, we spend much more calories climbing a mountain than writing an email behind our computer. That’s why you shouldn’t deprive yourself! You are on vacation so enjoy, but enjoy well. Give yourself healthy snacks, listen to your body and eat when you are hungry.

If you’re going on a day trip, consider packing a small stash of nuts, fruit, or even hummus with carrots in your backpack, for example. It’s a great way to stay fit and eat healthy while traveling while visiting the sights and taking in the beautiful scenery.

It is true that, since we move a lot more on vacation, our body can more easily push us to the nearest fast food. Also, the local specialties are not always the healthiest, with often very fatty or delightful foods (although delicious!). Of course, you have to be open to the country’s gastronomic culture and try everything, but our advice would be to do it in small quantities and occasionally if you want to eat well and not spend too much.

So don’t forget always to prepare a small fresh and an affordable snack if you feel hungry.

Healthiest places to eat while traveling

Finding the healthiest places to eat while traveling is an activity repeated many times on every trip. I use my smartphone mainly to search for restaurants. When looking for healthy food, I look at information about restaurants. I’m interested in menus and reviews from other guests. Every piece of information is at a premium. Being on the road very often, you will use google maps or other maps.

The choice of food when traveling is complex. It depends on everyone’s taste and the culinary specialties of each country or place to visit.

That’s why there are many answers to this question. They start as soon as you pack your bags. So follow the guide to discover some tips to eat better while traveling!

Step 1: during the preparation of the trip!

Traveling is always a stressful time. Whether it’s for a vacation or a simple business trip of a few days, the packing stage is the most important and stressful. Food is often neglected in favor of clothes, accessories, and papers that you should not forget during this stage.

However, if you take a few minutes to focus on your body’s needs, it will make the whole trip more manageable, and here are a few tips for doing so:

Remember to eat before taking the plane or the car if you travel by road because the trip is a tiring stage that will require a lot of energy. This energy will be provided by meals taken at regular times. Remember to keep the same rhythm of your meals.

Think about finding a restaurant at the airport where you can sit down and have a complete meal made of fruits and vegetables if you have skipped your pre-flight meal. Avoid snacking on the plane. Snacks offered on the aircraft are often sweets, cookies, or confectionery that are very unhealthy and can make you feel uncomfortable.

If possible, ask for the menu of the flight you are about to take and, if possible, choose meals made of vegetables and fruits. If this is not available, try to eat at the airport before departure. Stay well hydrated by drinking water, and avoid soft drinks and coffee.

If you're traveling by car, it's easy to pack snacks for the road! Good food is prepared your way cleanly. Otherwise, you can search your route map or GPS for restaurants that suit your tastes and needs.

Step 2: At your destination!

When the travel destination is an unknown or exotic country, it is rare to know the culinary specialties and food preparation techniques. Here are some tips to remember for healthy eating wherever you go:

Prepare a few home-cooked meals and rations to take with you on your trip. You’ll eat them when you arrive, while you’re waiting to discover the places you’ll be visiting. Take a few essentials with you, such as carry bags to keep food fresh or a mini blender that can always come in handy. Vary the composition of your meals, but especially eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.

Avoid meat as much as possible. We never know the storage conditions of these fragile foods. Drink plenty of clean, pure mineral water to improve your transit.

Listen to your cravings and your body. For example, avoid overeating spice if you can’t stand it or too much fat. Find out about the outlets and supermarkets at your destination so that you never run out of essential foods. Finally, take advantage of your trip to sample the local specialties. It’s one of the best parts of traveling!

As you can see, there are many ways to eat healthily and maintain good health.

After reading this post, you will conclude why healthy eating habits are essential when traveling. You will enjoy the best mental and body health combined with regular physical activity.
